Tryout Eligibility
Anyone who is currently a student at Florida Tech or has received a letter of acceptance may try out. This includes incoming freshman and transfer students. Current Florida Tech students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be free of any academic or disciplinary probation.

Tryout Dates
Spring tryouts will be held in the varsity gym of the Clemente Center Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

What to Wear
We are looking to uphold a neatly groomed and clean cut image. Please dress appropriately.

• Men: Please wear athletic attire including practice shorts and a t-shirt (no tank tops).
• Women: Please wear athletic practice attire including crimson practice shorts and a black t-shirt or full length tank top (no sports bras). Attire should not be too revealing.
• No jewelry of any kind is permitted, including belly rings and other body piercings.

What to Bring

• A copy of your student ID and/or acceptance letter.
• A copy of your insurance card.

A copy machine will not be available so please do not bring the original.

Cheerleading Skill Evaluations
Each prospective cheerleader will be evaluated on the following:

• Stunting (co-ed and/or all-girl)
  • Coed – Walk-in hands (required for co-ed stunts)
  • All-girl – Extension lib cradle (required for all-girl stunts, base, back or top)
• Tumbling – Not a requirement, but highly recommended
  • Standing – Back-handspring; back tuck, etc.
  • Running – Roundoff back-handspring; Roundoff back tuck
• Jumps
  • Toe touch, pike, front hurdler (women only)
• Motions (a cheer and a band dance will be taught and performed)
• Ability to lead a crowd

Method of Evaluation
The team is selected by the coach and other members of the Florida Tech Athletic Department. The team will be posted the following morning in the Clemente Center. The coach has the final say on who makes the squad and all decisions are final.

DVD Tryouts for Freshman & Transfer Students
The DVD tryout option is only available for incoming freshman and transfer students. Current students attending Florida Tech are ineligible for this option unless prior approval from the coach. To submit a DVD, please contact coach Lindsay Nichols at FloridaTechCheerleading@fit.edu.

All DVD tryouts must be received by May 1 to be considered, and squad members will be notified by May 20.
