Important NCAA rules for high school prospects regarding contact with coaches

• Coaches may respond via e-mail beginning June 15 prior to a prospect's junior year in high school.
• Coaches may text message beginning June 15 prior to a prospect's junior year in high school.
• Coaches may begin sending athletic recruiting material beginning June 15 prior to a prospect's junior year in high school.
• Prior to June 15 of a prospect’s junior year, coaches can only mail academic information, recruiting questionnaires and camp brochures.
• High school prospects may make phone calls to a coach, however, a coach may not return calls or make an initial call until June 15 prior to a prospect’s junior year.
• Coaches may make in-person, off-campus contacts with prospects beginning June 15 prior to a prospect's junior year in high school.
• Coaches may text message beginning June 15 prior to a prospect's junior year in high school.
• Coaches are not permitted to use chat rooms, message boards, post to Facebook “walls” or tweet directly to prospects. Only private message are permitted beginning June 15 of a prospect’s junior year in high school.
• Coaches and/or other athletics staff members may not contact (via phone or in-person) four-year college prospects interested in transferring without first obtaining a written permission to speak, regardless of who makes the initial contact.
