BRISTOL, Conn. (Men’s Basketball) – Simon Cummings’ 10 consecutive three-pointers has gone viral as ESPN showed video footage of his memorable night on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays segment Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Cummings’ three-point display against Trinity College on Monday at the Clemente Center was listed as No. 10 in the countdown of the premier plays at the professional and college levels. His rare feat tied a 23-year-old NCAA Division II single-game record, held by Missouri S&T’s Duane Huddleston since 1988. It broke Florida Tech’s single-game record of five, earned by Tom Folliard Jr. during the 1986-87 season.

The senior business administration major concluded the game 12-for-15 from beyond the arc for a season-high 36 points. His 12 three-pointers shattered the school’s previous single-game mark of nine, originally established by Folliard Jr. and later tied by E.J. Murray.

Cummings was awarded his third Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week accolade of the season on Tuesday. He now leads the league in scoring (23.2 ppg), three-point field goals made per game (4.0) and is tied with teammate Julius Reid in steals per game (2.9). He ranks second in three-point field goal percentage (.500) and fourth in minutes played per game (31.7).

At 8-2 overall and 1-1 in SSC play, the Panthers will open their 2012 slate Wednesday, Jan. 4, at conference counterpart Nova Southeastern. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. at the Don Taft University Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
