Men’s Golf Begins Spring Season Monday in Melbourne
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Men’s Golf) – After finishing the fall portion of the schedule back in November, the Florida Tech Panthers will return to the golf course and begin the spring schedule Monday and Tuesday at the Titan Winter Invitational. The tournament hosted by Eastern Florida State College will be played at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne.
The Panthers won last year’s Titan Invitational, and look to capture a second consecutive championship.
“The Titan Winter Invitational is always a good starter to the spring, and we look forward to defending last year’s title,” said head coach Chris Saltmarsh. “I know Justin [Kalanquin] would like to have the same success here as he did last year with a 2-hole playoff victory.”
The squad finished the fall portion of the schedule with one tournament championship. The Panthers won the Full Moon Invitational by 19 strokes back on Sept. 17, 2013.
The Panthers, who will send two different teams, are just one of 13 other schools competing at the Titan Winter Invitational. Two other schools from the Sunshine State Conference will join the Panthers at the tournament. Lynn and Tampa will both head to Melbourne to compete. Future SSC member Embry-Riddle (Fla.) will also be competing in the two day event.
Day one of the Titan Winter Invitational gets underway Monday at 8 a.m. ET with two rounds of action. Final round play on Tuesday will also begin at 8 a.m. at Suntree Country Club.
