WINTER PARK, Fla. (Men's Basketball) – Talk about a dominating debut season as a Panther. For the third time this season, Florida Tech’s (14-6, 4-5 SSC) Corbin Jackson has been named the Sunshine State Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by VALIC.

The weekly honor is the sixth for FIT this season, the most of any school.

Jackson began the week going 12-of-18 from the field for 26 points against Barry University (14-4, 5-4 SSC) in a overtime loss to the Buccaneers on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The redshirt sophomore added nine rebounds, eight blocks and five assists in 42 minutes of action.

A career day by Jackson led the Panthers to a 72-63 victory over Lynn University on Feb. 1 as the forward pulled down a career best 18 rebounds to go with his 18 points, three blocks and two assists. The double-double was his 14th of the season, tops in the SSC and among the leaders in NCAA Division II. His 18 rebounds were the most since assistant coach Edgars Eglitis registered 18 rebounds on Jan. 25, 2012.

Jackson averaged 22.0 points on 66 percent shooting, 13.5 rebounds, 5.5 blocks, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steal/game in FIT’s two games this week. On the year, Jackson is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double with 15.8 points/game and 11.3 rebounds/game. He ranks among the nation’s leaders in total blocks, blocks/game, total rebounds, rebounds/game, double-doubles, triple doubles and field-goal percentage.

The Panthers host Saint Leo University (16-6, 4-5 SSC) on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Clemente Center and head to Tampa to face the University of Tampa (12-6, 5-4 SSC) on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m.
