Huba Named First SSC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
WINTER PARK, Fla. (Women’s Tennis) – Kristina Huba entered the spring season ranked No. 12 in singles play and No. 19 in doubles with Natasa Vukovic. After earning a straight-set victory in singles play and a 8-2 win in doubles action in No. 15 Florida Tech’s (0-1, 0-1 SSC) spring debut, the 2013 ITA All-American and SSC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year earned the first Sunshine State Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week presented by VALIC award of 2014.
Huba dominated against No. 21 Nova Southeastern University (1-0, 1-0 SSC), defeating No. 37 Alex Johannson in singles No. 1, 6-1, 6-1. Huba is No. 5 in the South Region Singles Rankings and Johannson is No. 12 in the region.
Huba teamed with Vukovic to down Sabrina Kierberg and Carlee Rizzolo in doubles No. 1, 8-2.
The Ascona, Switzerland native ranks No. 5 in the South Region Singles Rankings and No. 6 in the South Region Doubles Rankings with Vukovic. She is currently 5-1 this season in singles action and 4-1 in doubles play.
The Panthers return to action on Feb. 7 to take on No. 30 Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Fla.
