Ellis Leads Men’s Golf on Day One of Titan Winter Invitational
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Men’s Golf) – The Florida Tech Panthers returned to the course Monday as they kicked off the spring schedule at the Titan Winter Invitational. The Panthers “A” group found themselves seven shots off the lead held by Lynn after the first two rounds of play. The Panthers "B" group is in ninth place after two rounds.
The “A” group consisting of freshman Joe Ellis, junior Justin Kalanquin, junior Ray Badenhorst, senior Andrew Wuethrich, and freshman Brett Krog finished with a 581 in two rounds of play. Ellis shot a one-under-par 71, and a one-over-par 73 in round two to pace the group. Kalanquin shot a 73 in round one, and was even par 72 in round two. Badenhorst was even par 72 in round one, and shot a one-over-par 73 in round two. After a 76 in round one, Wuethrich came back in round two with a one-under-par 71. Krog shot rounds of 79 and 78.
The Panthers’ “B” group consisting of senior James Bologna, junior Ryan Carter, senior David Glenister, and freshman Henrik Honkalehto are in ninth place after posting a score of 606 through two rounds. Bologna shot the low round of the day for the Panthers posting a three-under-par 69 in round one. Bologna backed up in round two with a 78. Ryan Carter was even par after round one, and shot a 76 in round two. Glenister posted rounds of 76 and 79, and Honkalehto scored rounds of 79 and 77.
Lynn is on top of the leaderboard with a 574 thorough two rounds, and Faulkner State Community College is two shots back of the Fighting Knights.
Final round play gets underway Tuesday at 8 a.m. ET at Suntree Country Club.
