Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth at Lady Mocs Classic
LAKELAND, Fla. (Women’s Golf) – The No. 4 Florida Tech Panthers finished the second round, and completed a final round Tuesday at the Lady Mocs Classic at Grasslands Golf & Country Club. Unfortunately for the Panthers they could not keep pace with their first round score, and finished in fourth place 16 shots behind champion Lynn.
After a first round 298, the Panthers scored a 304 in round two and a final round 300. Sophomore Felicia Leftinger had a solid second day with a one-under-par 71 in round two and a final round 74. After a second round 81, freshman Sarah Thomas came back with a final round 76. Freshman Johanna Larsson improved with each round of the tournament. After a first round 83, Larsson shot a 75 in round two and a final round 74. Freshman Guro Rambjoer and junior Rachel Polson each scored a 79 in the second round. Rambjoer shot a final round 76, and Polson carded an 80 in round three.
Lynn took home the team championship after a second round 289 and a final round 300. The Fighting Knights finished two strokes ahead of second place No. 16 Nova Southeastern. Samantha Smolen of Lynn took home the individual championship by one stroke over Katrina Wang of Nova Southeastern.
The Panthers will return to action March 3-4 at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational. The event takes place at the Tuscawilla Country Club in Winter Park.
