Game Two: Panthers Head to North Carolina to Face Crusaders

BELMONT, N.C. (Men’s Lacrosse) – The Florida Tech (1-0) men’s lacrosse squad closes out the month of February with a road contest at Belmont Abbey College (0-1) tomorrow at 1 p.m.

The Panthers are 1-1 against the Crusaders but 0-1 at Alumni Field, host of Wednesday’s nonconference slate. FIT is coming off of an 18-10 victory over Coker College (1-1) on Feb. 17. In the game, sophomore Brian Bacarella led the offense with five goals, three coming in the first quarter. Bacarella’s five goals tied his career-high and the attackman added two assists. Freshmen CJ Nichols and Austen Zugelter teamed for seven goals and three assists in their collegiate debuts and Christian Isola scored two goals. Nick Wynne, Alex Carlson, Nick Brown and Andrew Conley each added one goal apiece. Eric Biller (1-0) improved to 7-7 in his FIT career after recording 12 saves.

BAC is coming off of a double overtime thriller against Rollins College (1-0), a game that ultimately went to the Tars, 9-8. Head coach Chris Barnett is 16-18 in his career and is the reigning Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year. Third-year head coach Ryan McAleavey is 9-20 for his career and 6-14 in weekday games.

Live stats will not be provided. Following Wednesday’s game, the Panthers return to action on Saturday, March 1 at Queens College of Charlotte.
