Volleyball Unable to Stop Streaking Saint Leo
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Volleyball) – Florida Tech showed glimpses of its potential at different points Saturday, but in the end, Saint Leo extended its win streak to four with a 3-1 decision at the Clemente Center. Set scores were 25-18, 25-15, 17-25 and 25-18.
Kaitlin Brennan led the Panthers (6-17, 2-8 SSC) with 13 kills. Janelle Branch chipped in 10 and committed two attack errors in 24 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. Hayley Tignor also hit well, connecting on eight of 16 with two errors for a .375 clip. Alexis Mastela had 38 assists, and Angie Lassman supplied a team-high 16 digs.
Three Lions (12-10, 5-5 SSC) registered double figures in kills with Lauren Campbell’s 12 leading the way. Jaclyn Mailoto tossed up 20 of Saint Leo’s 42 assists. Emily Calderon-Reyes paced the Lions with 22 digs.
Saint Leo hit .220 for the match, while limiting FIT to a .166 hitting percentage. Alexa Reed had four of the team’s 10 service aces. The visitors also controlled the net, totaling 14 blocks. Danielle Bletso recorded four block solos and five block assists.
The Panthers will conclude their three-game homestand Wednesday by hosting Palm Beach Atlantic in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. at the Clemente Center.
