Clarke, Kirui Close Out Season at NCAA Championship
SPOKANE, Wash. (Men’s and Women’s Cross Country) – Florida Tech’s Nicole Clarke and Moses Kirui concluded their respective seasons at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship Saturday at the Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex. Runners in both races braved a 25-degree temperature, an 11-degree wind chill and light snow.
Clarke ended her Panther career coming in 47th place out of 186 participants in the women’s 6K at 22:34.9. She was the second Sunshine State Conference runner to cross the finish line behind Tampa’s Heather Nicolosi, who stopped the clock at 22:07.0 for 28th place.
Shippensburg’s Neely Spence was the overall winner at 20:53.8. Augusta (S.D.) won the team championship with 75 points.
On the men’s side, Kirui finished the 10K event last at 39:03.9. Ryan Haebe from Western State won the race with a time of 30:45.1. Haebe was one of four runners from his institution to finish in the top seven as Western State hoisted the team trophy with 27 points.
The top 40 male and top 40 female runners were named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II All-Americans.
