Former Florida Tech Soccer standout Fidgi Haig is the head coach of the women's soccer team. In his first season, he led the women's team to their best finish in the programs short existence.

Haig came to Florida Tech in 2005 after ending his stint as the women’s head coach at Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, Fla., where his team was ranked #1 in the nation twice, in 2002 and 2004.

His Lady Scorpions were one of the most dominant teams in the state in the past ten years. Under Haig, Satellite High won seven conference championships, five district championships and had four trips to the state championship game, winning two of them in 2002 and 2003. After winning back-to-back state championships, he left Satellite in 2005 with an astonishing career record of 231-18-8 (.927 winning percentage). That same year, he was named Orlando Sentinel Girls Soccer Coach of the Year, Florida Today Girls Soccer Coach of the Year and the Florida Youth Soccer Association's (FYSA) Girls Coach of the Year. He also was named Space Coast Coach of the Year four times and the 2004 Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year.

While coaching at Satellite, Haig continued to give back to the community by coaching the Indialantic girls U-13, U-16, and U-17 teams. He led the U-17/U16 team to six state championship titles in 2001 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and two state runner ups in 2000 and 2004. He also coached the U-19 Florida Select Boys for the Coca Cola Cup in Holland in 1999.

He currently is also the head coach for the '94 Olympic Development Boys team in Florida (ODP). He has been on the ODP staff for the past 10 years. Haig also coaches the Space Coast United U18 Girls and U15 Girls.

Currently Haig ranks as the fourth all-time winningest girls high school coach in the nation. He is also a member of National Soccer Coaches of America and the Unites Soccer Coaches of America.

Haig, a former Florida Tech student-athlete, was a forward for the Panthers in 1988 when Tech captured the first of its two NCAA Division II National Championships.

While at Florida Tech, he earned numerous honors including being named All-South Region (NSCAA) in 1987 and 1990, All-State (FISCA) First Team in 1987 and 1989, All-SSC First Team in 1987, 1988 and All-SSC Second Team in 1989. Besides helping his team win a national championship in 1988, the Panthers were the Sunshine State Conference Champions in 1988, 1989 and 1990. He currently remains fourth in career goals (43) and fifth in career points (105) in the Panther record book.

Haig, with the rest of the 1988 NCAA Division II Championship team, is a member of the Florida Tech Hall of Fame.

Professionally, he played for the Orlando Lions of the USISL from 1992-94 and Club Sportif St. Louis from 1984-87. He was also a member of the Haitian National Team from 1985-94 and the Haitian Olympic team 1983-85.

Haig completed his first season as head coach with a 7-7-2 overall record. He improved to 8-5-2 in 2006 and 9-5-2 in 2007.

For his hard work with the Panthers and his determination with his community teams, Haig was named 2005 United States Youth Adidas Soccer National Coach of the Year at a banquet hosted in Houston, Texas, in February 2006.

Haig still currently plays soccer in the Space Coast men’s league.

Haig is a firm believer that "enjoying the game is a key factor to success.” His beliefs carry over to his players.

Haig graduated from Florida Tech in 1992 with a degree in business administration. He loves to listen to music and play the keyboard. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer, traveling, spending time with his wife and kids and watching movies.

Haig and his wife, Rebecca, have three children: sons Landen and Aiden and daughter Karin. They reside in Melbourne Beach, Fla.
