Master's in Exercise Science, University of Central Florida
BA in Physical Education, Frostberg State, 1978

Mazzone has been an active member of the Florida Tech athletic program as the head cross country and track and field coach and associate athletic director.

Coach Mazzone was always interested in athletics and had a deep desire to coach. He became the Assistant Athletic Director at Florida Tech soon after moving to Florida in 1985. He was offered the head coaching job for men's and women's cross country seven years later in 1992. The rest is history!

In 2000, his men's program had their best finish during Mazzone's tenure. The men's team finished second in the Sunshine State Conference and 12th overall in the NCAA Division II Regionals.

In 1998, the men's team finished second and women's team finished fourth in the SSC. For this he was named the Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year for the second time in three years.

The motivation for coaching came from his desire to teach. Mazzone went to school for exercise science because he wanted the opportunity to mentor and support young people.

Mazzone was born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island. He received his bachelor's degree in Physical Education at Frostburg State (Maryland) in 1978. He received his master's degree in Exercise Science at the University of Central Florida.

He lives with his wife Barbara, and daughter Cristina in West Melbourne, Florida.
